Meet Steve!

Hello!–and thanks for stopping by. Please allow me to tell you a bit about who I am and where I’m from.  My name is Stephen Hitchcock, and I’m originally from Bloomfield Hills which is located in southeast Michigan, USA. I grew up in the suburbs of metro Detroit.

I was really into sports in high school where I played baseball, football, and wrestled–but my specialty was pole vaulting in track and field. Upon graduation from Michigan State University, attracted by better job prospects and an incredible natural landscape, I moved to the Pacific Northwest (the western Pacific coast of North America) in 1992 where I lived much of my adult life in Seattle WA, Portland OR as well as Vancouver, British Columbia.

Before working as an English trainer I worked as a graphic designer, working on websites, print publications, advertising campaigns, logos, posters and other graphic media.

I received my TESOL certification in Prague in 2007. I taught ESL in Prague from 2007-2008, then moved to Canada to teach ESL in both Toronto, Ontario and Vancouver, British Columbia. I returned to Prague in 2011 to continue teaching here and now, 7 years later still going strong!

I’m 54 years old, and in my free time I enjoy playing tennis, mountain biking, fishing, and playing a little guitar.

I’ve recently started a new website for freelance language teachers-

www.speakify.cz

Please check it out and let me know what you think!
